New Year’s Day
a time to reflect on what we’ve missed,
a time to remember what we should have done and
a time to consider where we are compared to where we thought we’d be.
It’s a time to start working out, eating healthier, and anticipating swimsuit season, which always comes faster than expected,
a time to reevaluate career goals, educational opportunities, and life ambitions,
a time to organize finances, paperwork, and household items,
a time to set goals, anticipate success, and reach for dreams,
a time to welcome in change and celebrate new beginnings.
The New Year is a new beginning presenting each of us with a new opportunity to discover who we are meant to be, to dream again, and to reach for our MORE.
But there are times when life becomes stagnant and dreams remain elusive and undefined. Dreams of the past have piled up like laundry behind my teenagers’ bedroom door. Many days pushing that door open to sort through the jumbled mess that’s inside just seems pointless, but the thing is, unmet goals, like piles of unwashed laundry, don’t just go away on their own.
Unmet goals, unfulfilled ambitions, forgotten dreams, and memories of past failures linger
until they are replaced by exciting, new goals, future ambitions, passionate dreams, and triumphant successes!
2016 can be the year you lower your shoulder, grit your teeth, and decide to push open that blocked door! Sorting through those piled up dreams helps you decide what to keep, what to put away for another season, and what needs to be replaced completely, and whether you work with a life coach, a patient friend who’s got her stuff together, or on your own, it needs to be done to move ahead in welcoming a new you!
Decide which dreams you’ll purposefully cast aside, which goals are still worth pursuing, what new ambitions you’ll add to your list! Decide it’s not a chore to sort through whatever’s blocking your door but an opportunity to discover forgotten treasures and toss aside moth bitten rags. Get excited about sorting through what you’ve created even if most of it needs to be discarded to make room for new opportunities!
Sorting through your dreams helps you define what is important to you now, today, and for the future. Chances are many of the old stuff no longer interests you, which is great! Replace that clutter with new interests rather than leave it to linger behind your closed doors!
New Year is your chance to be made new and to dream again!
Clearing out the old, welcomes in the new, the new dreams, the new goals to get you there, the new you!

TRP Life Coaching Assignment:
Brainstorm past goals and dreams. Don’t worry about whether they were from when you were five, fifteen, or fifty! Write them down, the realistic and the outlandish, the achieved and the failed, the secretly treasured and the openly announced, everything…
First remember when you could dream and what those dreams were. Then begin to sort through your stuff. Check back with The Right Path for Life Coaching for my next post which will talk about how to decide what to keep, what to give away, and what to add!
It is never to late to begin dreaming!
